HUNTER CR10 HUD
════════════════════════
The supplied 2-way HUD is a great way to control the boat.

Upper row: You can start the boat, turn on and off lights and stereo, and give control to the passenger (if the permissions are set). You can also give a copy of the HUD to the passenger.

Lower row: You can set the camera by cycling though the camera options: Follow / Cockpit / Dash / Birdseye; You can Refuel the boat if needed, by adding 3 gallons of fuel from a can. Then you can lower and raise the motors; turn on/off the text HUD; activate the AUX 1 switch and finally sound the air-horn.

NOTE: The red and white dots under the Cockpit Light button will set the cockpit lights red or white.

NOTE: The ‘c’ under the Ambient Light button will open a color selector where you can choose the light colors for the fore and aft Ambient lighting.

KEYBOARD COMMANDS
════════════════════════
[Skipper only]

Forward Arrow = Throttle Increase
Back Arrow = Throttle Decrease
Left Arrow = Turn Left (or rotate Left if throttle is 0)
Right Arrow = Turn Right (or rotate Right if throttle is 0)
Page Up = Boost to Half Speed from idle or any other speed.
Page Down = Cut to idle from any speed.

W A S D keys are an alternative to the arrow keys (QWERTY Keyboard), [Z Q S D Clavier français] etc.
W/S control forward and backward, while A/D control turning left and right.

NOTE: Pressing Left Arrow or Right Arrow when the boat is moving turns the boat. When the throttle is set to Neutral, and with engines on, pressing Left Arrow or Right Arrow will rotate the boat on the spot left or right.

Pressing Shift+L or R) will activate the vectored thrust on the outboards and orient the motors to allow sideways movement. This is useful for docking.

NOTE: Make sure you release the keys between movements. Second Life vehicles get confused if you ‘attack’ the keyboard too much. Turn, release, move forwards, release etc. Don’t hold the keys and expect the vehicle to understand every press if it is not clear, especially with the combined key commands.

CHAT CHANNEL
════════════════════════
Optional. Chat commands by default are on the public channel 0. If you wish to use another hidden channel, you may. When sitting, type in local chat channel xx, where xx is the channel number. it can be a positive or negative channel.

Note: Any command below has to be preceded by the channel number you set, example: if the channel is 1, to start the boat, you type: /1 start

Tip: If you forget the boat channel, look in local chat when the boat is rezzed, the channel number is given.

CAMERAS
════════════════════════
The Skipper can cycle between the cameras by typing into local chat:

‘c’ – the regular follow camera (behind).
‘cd’ – to show a close up of the dashboard, useful for starting and stopping to get to the key.
‘cc’ – for centered, cockpit forward facing camera.
‘cb’ – used to set a Bird’s Eye camera which is useful when parking or refueling.
‘cx’ – backward facing camera which is useful when sitting on fishing fighting chairs or rear facing chair.

[Passengers can type]
‘c’ – the regular follow camera.
‘cc’ – for centered, cockpit forward facing camera.
‘cu’ – an alternate dynamic camera.
‘cx’ – backward facing camera which is useful when sitting on fishing fighting chairs or rear facing chair.

Note, it is normal for some passengers not to have their default cameras the same as the Skipper, directly behind the boat.

Note on ‘cmd’: You can pass controls to the passenger at rest (motor off) or under-way. The passenger has to be sitting in the passenger seat next to the Skipper in the driver seat. If under-way, the engine will turn off. The new Skipper needs to start it.

PERMISSIONS
════════════════════════
The boat can be set to: Owner only | Access List | Everyone.

★ ‘Owner Only’ allows the boat to be used by the owner. Others can sit, but only the owner can drive the boat.

★ ‘Access list’ uses a notecard called ‘Access List’ inside the boat contents to allow certain people access to drive the boat. The owner can edit this. Make sure you read the format for adding people to the Access List notecard. The username of the people with rights to the boat is required (as you see it written on the Web tab of the Avi’s user profile). Anything else will not work.

★ ‘Everyone’ is like guest mode, and if you leave your boat in this setting, anyone can take it. If you have a guest on board who would like to drive, and they are not in the Access List, you need to set the permissions to ‘Everyone’ to allow them to drive. This is limited to 3 hours. After which, if the boat is still in this mode, it will self-destruct when accessed. This prevents the boat being used if stolen, or littering if lost by someone else.

Tip: The Permissions dial center will change color depending on the permission mode: Red for Owner Only, Orange for Access List & Green for Everyone.

Tip: When you save a copy of your boat – say after you paint it and name it. Save the boat in Owner Only mode. This will prevent any accidental self-destruct and will be safer. If you save the boat in Everyone mode, it will delete every time you rez, if you rez 3 hours after you saved it. You don’t want that.

SITTING DIALOG MENU
════════════════════════
[Touch the seat cushions to activate the sitting menu]

1st sitter: At the wheel
2nd sitter: Passenger seat on the starboard side of the skipper
3rd sitter: Aft couch seat Port
4rd sitter: Aft couch seat Starboard

After sitting, you can move around the boat. Touch the inflatable hull or the seats (by default – See Note) to activate the dialog menu. Try to avoid sitting on a seat that is occupied, respect the person sitting there already 🙂

The Skipper can give control to the Passenger using the ‘cmd’ chat command if the passenger is on the Access List or if the boat is set to Everyone Mode..

You can adjust the poses with the Avsitter menu in the same way you are used to with furniture that uses Avsitter.

Remember to take the boat back to inventory to save the pose adjustments. Re-rez it, and carry on as usual.

IDEA: To reduce the overall scripts, and if you never have a 3rd or 4th passenger, you can remove the [AV]sitA 2, [AV]sitB 2, [AV]camera 2 (for the 3rd passenger); [AV]sitA 3, [AV]sitB 3, [AV]camera 3 (for the 4th passenger). Then edit the AVpos notecard, removing the sections for Sitter 2 (for the 3rd passenger) and Sitter 3 (for the 4th passenger). Reducing scripts is always nice in this delicate SL environment of ours 🙂

NOTE: The default pose menu activation method is to touch the inflatable hull or the seats. You can change this if you like. Add or remove the text ‘pose_menu’ from the description of a part. Adding it to the part’s description will allow you to click the part and bring up the pose menu.

FISHING
════════════════════════
There are a few fishing positions on the boat, all sitters can fish. You needs to be in a place where rezzing is allowed for the sitters to receive the rods. So say on Blake Sea, drive to a rezzing corner, get the rods and then you can drive to wherever you want to go and fish.

The rods supplied are for show only, but all the same, it is a relaxing pastime.

You can use a SL Fishing system with this boat such as the ‘[N-O] Grid Wide Sport Fishing Game’. To use your own game rod: Select the pose, refuse the rod proposed to you by the boat, and ADD the fishing rod that your fishing game uses.

FUEL SYSTEM
════════════════════════
The boat uses Regular Fuel and has a 90 gallon tank capacity.

When fuel is low, you can go to a compatible NTBI GFS gas pump and click it to refuel. NOTE: USE REGULAR FUEL (not Diesel). In case of emergency or if you run out of fuel, type ‘refuel’ in chat, and you can add 3 gallons of REGULAR fuel from a gas can that is kept stowed, but brought out for this emergency refueling. This hopefully will be enough to get you to a pump.

The Fuel System can be turned off in the Settings Notecard. It is on by default.

The NTBI GFS (Global Fuel System) pumps are really easy to use. See at the bottom of this notecard for a MP link where to get the GFS pump and cans.

Refueling the Hunter CR10 using the NTBI GFS PUMP

I am sorry that the positioning of the boat and pump is to tight here, there is little room for flexibility. We are addressing this issue, and hope to come up with a solution soon. In the meantime:

1. Moor directly in front of the pump with starboard fuel filler cap (right side) on the same side as the pump (maximum 2m away). Position so you are like this NOTE: The pump has to be quite low for this all to work.

2. Whilst sitting in the Skipper seat, or standing near the boat, with the ENGINE TURNED OFF, click the pump – it will check for the vehicle and you will be given control of the pump (basic instructions will also be sent in local chat to the Skipper).

3. Select REGULAR fuel from the pump.

4. Click nozzle to insert it into the fuel filler.

5. CLICK NOZZLE AGAIN to start/stop the pump (nozzle will automatically shut off when tank is full). When pumping, the numbers on the pump will tick over.

6. Click pump again to finish (nozzle will be removed and fueling is completed).

Notes: You do not have to fill the tank completely at the pump. Add whatever you wish. The boat fuel-tank is 90 gallons. Fuel indicated in the text HUD and on the Console screen is shown as a percentage of full.

You must stay within 16 meters of the pump while you are fueling your vehicle. The pump itself has to be quite low for this boat. if you feel you are in the right position, but you still get a location error, lower the pump, and see if that helps.

NTBI GFS gas cans can also be used. Rez these on your dock and aim them at the boat in the general direction of the starboard filler cap. They will add 3 gallons of fuel to the boat when clicked. See MP link at the bottom of the notecard for the pump, and the cans can be found in the same store also for free.

Remember that the ‘refuel’ command tops up the boat by 3 gallons. This can be used when at sea, and in an area where you can’t rez.

SUPER SERVICE MODULE
════════════════════════
Some people want to get the boat ready to use, or to set out at the dock. This Hunter Super Service module can be rezzed on the region (the sim) and can be used to fill the tank to 100%, and to set the boat rocking on or off. It can also be used to refill any foam tanks of the Hunter Fire Fighting vehicles from Hunter Marine or Shippe & Saille.

Click the service module (the fuel barrel) and select an option from the menu. You will be asked to click the boat that you want to service. If you have a few rezzed, the action will apply to the one you click, and not to all the rezzed boats.

GTFO
════════════════════════
The Hunter CR10 is GTFO compliant. It has the VAPI code of HUNTERCR10

Creator = CatalinaHunter Resident
VAPI = HUNTERCR10
Description = Hunter CR10 Cruising RIB
Cargo type = 1
Cargo qty = 8
vehicle type = 2
vehicle size = 1
Drop Capable = 0
Time per item = 6

MODDING & PAINTING
════════════════════════
The boat is mod, you can add (link) items to the vessel (no relinker required) if done correctly, and of course paint it or apply 3rd party paints. Painting UVs and Ambient Occlusion textures are available for download on Github:

https://github.com/CatHunter/Hunter-CR10-Textures

Click the Green CODE button, then select Download ZIP. Download and extract on your PC.

These include, EPS UV files, PNG AO files, PNG Texture files (texture as delivered).

For modding, when adding a part to the boat, it is imperative to:

  1. Stop the boat scripts.
  2. Link the new item.
  3. Reset the scripts.
  4. Restart the scripts again.

This is done via the Build menu of the viewer. Then: Edit Linked, and set the items you have just added to ‘None’ as a Physics type. This prevents them adding to the physics weight of the boat.

NOTE: whenever adding anything to the boat, you may affect the boat physics weight. This depends on what you add. The end result may be that the boat performs a little differently, turning. If the boat handling is strange, test it against an original boat from the crate. If you think the weirdness is due to your new added part, then consider an alternative part to add. This is due to physics weights of objects, some are light, some are heavy, and it does affect the boat. If you can, after adding the new part, Edit Linked, select your new part, and on the Features tab of the edit window, set the “Physics Shape Type” to ‘None’ for the new part.

STEREO CONTROL
════════════════════════
The boat HUD (attached version) and the switches on the dashboard can control the power of the ~ SCM Mewsic Player ~. You can add the scripts of the SCM Mewsic Player to the boat like this

Adding the main radio scripts to the radio prim in the boat (There is already the !_Radio_Control script in place). Remember to check the Edit Linked check box in Edit mode when doing this.

At the time of writing, this works with version Version 19.9.14 of the ~ SCM Mewsic Player ~. See the bottom of this notecard for the link to the player on the SL Marketplace.

SETTINGS AND ACCESS LIST
════════════════════════
The ‘! Settings and Access List’ notecard is pretty much self explanatory. Make a backup of the notecard if you like. Some items require a TRUE or FALSE setting. Don’t put anything else. Don’t put spaces on either side of the “=”. Don’t change the names of the setting. Do not rename the settings file itself.

Once you change a setting. Save the notecard. Then take the boat back into inventory, and re-rez it. Following this procedure, the settings will get re-read correctly and all the scripts in the boat, will receive the new data. No need to reset the scripts in the boat, but you can do that if things are not working. To repeat from above, when you reset the boat, you need to wait for the Avsitter scripts to reload. You can see the progress if you cam inside and look at the hover-text over the companionway step. Wait for the hover text to get to 100% and disappear (usually a few minutes).

VEHICLE SECURITY
════════════════════════
The ‘[AV]root-security’ script is included in the boat. This is required as the boat will not function correctly if it is removed or replaced. It is not the standard Avsitter script, we have modified it slightly to add functionality.

This script, will only allow either you the owner to use the vehicle, or people in the same group as the one the vehicle was rezzed in or it can be set to ALL as well, allowing anyone to sit. To allow you and your friends onto the boat, select a group that you all belong to, but not a public one that lots of others belong to as well such as SL Sailing or SL Aviation. You can perhaps create a group if you don’t have one for you and your friends.

The security level can then be changed by the owner in the [ADJUST] sub-menu of the sitting menu (click the seats to activate), with separate options for both “Sit” and “Menu” access.

Options are ALL, OWNER or GROUP.

Note: Default setting is ALL.

Note: If the boat scripts are reset for any reason, the setting defaults back to ALL again.

Note: In GROUP ONLY mode, the avatars who wish to sit (including the owner) must have set their active group to the same group the boat is set to.

GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE HUNTER CR10 BOAT
═════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Mouselook is a fun way to drive this boat.

In mouselook you can start and stop the boat with the Console switches, set the cross-hair roughly in the middle of the window, and you have a great view. If your field of view is a little restricted, press CTRL+8 a couple of times, to widen the view (CTRL+0 zooms in, CTRL+9 resets the view).

The Cockpit view (cc in chat) is a fun way to drive and can be smoother that follow came view. This is a great view for the pilot and the passenger. Sometimes it is more stable than the default follow camera.

It seems Mouselook view is the smoothest view, followed by the Cockpit view (cc in chat). So if you find that crossing sims is rough, try mouselook view if you have not before.

As was said above, to get the most out of your boat and to prevent weird things happening, make sure you release the keys between movements. Second Life vehicles get confused if you ‘attack’ the keyboard too much. Move sideways, release, turn, release, move forwards, release etc. Don’t hold the keys and expect the vehicle to understand every press if it is not clear, especially with the combined key commands.

When crossing sim borders, make sure you release all keys and the mouse. A command made on one sim can’t be carried out on and over the sim border. A command, say left turn or increase speed, has to be completed on the sim you are on. If the key is held, the command will not carry on onto the next sim. You need to release and re-apply the command.

Avoid sim corners. I say this over and over, people seem to think that sim corners are not important. if you hit one, no matter what boat, you will crash or at best end up on the sea floor with your boat speeding off. Solution is to use the minimap, show the parcel boundaries on the minimap, and avoid the corners.
